This is a straight rye whiskey that has been finished for six months in cigar-shaped toasted oak barrels. The oak was sourced from the Vosges region of France.
Breaking with tradition, we finish our Straight Rye Whiskey in toasted oak cigar barrels, air dried in the low-lying mountain region of Vosges, France. This proprietary finished results in a smoother, more approachable rye with notes of orange peel, coriander, and spice.

Heaven’s Door – a collection of American Whiskeys developed in collaboration with Bob Dylan and renowned craft distillers, will be available in May. Years in the making, the inaugural trilogy of expressions includes a Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Double Barrel Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey finished in oak barrels from Vosges, France, air-dried for 3 years. The perfect blend of art and craft, each bottle showcases Dylan’s distinctive welded iron gates that he created in his metalworking studio, Black Buffalo Ironworks.
Nose: Elegantly perfumed with notes of toasted wheat, cereal, tree dust and marzipan.
Palate: The palate is elevated and airy almost weightless. Stone fruit, nutmeg and hay persist.
Finish: Pleasant and decadent finish.
Headquartered in Atchison, Kansas, MGP began in 1941 as a small distillery operation in the heart of America’s grain belt. Founder Cloud L. Cray, Sr., felt the Company’s location and existing infrastructure were an ideal base from which to grow a successful business that would serve the needs of its customers.
From the beginning, MGP has maintained a strong family-oriented culture, kept intact by three generations of the Cray family. This has greatly influenced the Company’s resilience in the face of various challenges, including periods of major domestic and global economic downturns. Collaboration and the ability to adapt to change are hallmarks of MGP’s culture and principal reasons behind its success and longevity.
